Future gazing.... (thank you John Grant)

What if brands disappear completely?

What if all we have are actual and virtual communities?
Trading, sharing and more intimate connections?
Marketing will mean a complete tear down of the agency monoliths and we marketers will be like the old time knife sharpener on a wagon going from virtual street to street.

I kind of like that.

When you think about it, why does an average company need branding? IF you are unique and your product/service is awesome, then guess what? It Sells Itself. Google and Facebook are great examples of this.

Don't "always be branding", always be improving, listening, and communicating. Don't brand - evangelize your contribution to the community at large.
